Do you have questions? We have answers!
As the website and the event start to gain momentum we have been receiving a lot of questions so we figured it would be beneficial for you to not only get to know the folks behind this event but also be able to get your questions answered.
This is why we have decided to hold a Q&A Session to be hosted live right here on the WNLRR Site very soon!
The exact date has yet to be determined but we are targeting sometime within the next 2 weeks, so if you have any WNLRR 2018 related questions please submit them here and we will make sure to cover it during the live event.
Be sure to check it out as there will be more news and developments revealed during the show.
And remember, SEND IN YOUR QUESTIONS!
Hello! What time does the rally start on the13th? Thank you.
Hi, will there be a gas station close to base camp?
Few questions from my group:
1. I'm stuck at work on the 12th, so a) How late can we check-in to our campsite on Wednesday 12th, 2018? or b) How early can we check-in to our campsite on Thursday 13th, 2018?
2. Can I bring my dog?
3. For drivers and paid passengers, what meals are provided, and what food do we need to bring ourselves?
4. Should we plan on it being very cold there?
5. Do we need to plan to bring our own fuel?
Is there a general FAQ that will be sent out next week, so we can review the answers and plan accordingly in terms of gear and supplies whatnot?
I am with Dilip. Need to know fuel availability and what about bears and the possibility that they will be raiding our camp???
It will be close to freezing some nights... Bring your winter sleeping bags!
Hello everyone,
My apologies for the late reply here, I just moved on Thursday and finally have reliable internet and most importantly some time!. See below for some answers!
a) How late can we check-in to our campsite on Wednesday 12th, 2018?
-If you arrive past the closing time of the check in booth simply find a location to camp inside the marked camping area and check in the following morning.
b) How early can we check-in to our campsite on Thursday 13th, 2018?
-8 am or prior to trail departures.
2. Can I bring my dog?
-Well behaved dogs that can play well with others are welcome but must remain leashed at all times.
3. For drivers and paid passengers, what meals are provided, and what food do we need to bring ourselves?
-Attendees will be provided meals on Friday and Saturday evenings. Attendees should prepare to bring breakfast and lunch for each day they will be at the event.
4. Should we plan on it being very cold there?
-Yes. Please plan accordingly.
5. Do we need to plan to bring our own fuel?
-Personally, I always bring at least 5 gallons on a rally just to be safe. Here's a link to a Deli/Gas station near the venue.
What about bears and the possibility that they will be raiding our camp??
-As with any wilderness camping area in bear country all usual precautions should be taken to limit exposure.
That being said, if the bears are leashed, have the proper vest insignia and have current immunization records we cannot prevent anyone from bringing one as an emotional support animal. :)
We will be sending an email with more details very soon.
Carlos
Carlos: The link to the gas station shows that it is 25 miles away from Bear Valley. Is that correct? Is there a gas station in Bear Valley itself?
Hey there,
Is there a name for the campsite we will be staying at?
Thanks
The campsite will be onsite at the Bear Valley Ski Resort, all directions will be provided upon check in.
@WNLRR Admin Is that the correct check-in location?
@ramonmvalencia There will be signage all over the entrance of the Bear Valley Ski Resort on where to check in. Please just follow the signs for WNLRR once you arrive.
Below is the most recent update I have received from the organizers.
Please keep in mind I am not on site nor am I familiar with the area so it may take a bit for me to obtain the information from the organizers as they are preparing the event.
Please post what radios will be used? Ham? CB? FRS? What are Official frequencies??
This will be up to the individual trail leader and what they are equipped with.
Most will use HAM or FRS.
Most people here use Ham or FRS
I was told the general camping was not at the Bear Valley Resort, but at a Soccer Field nearby - is there an actual address for this, and a specific location for the check-in area? We will be arriving early Thursday morning.
Please the most recent update below.
Okay -- mass confusion. You state the street address which leads us to a ski area. But the map you show is 2 miles SW in the town of Bear Valley. At this point, I am just going to drive up HWY 4 and wait for the signs. I thought NCLR and AZLRO could do better.
Paul,
Very sorry for the confusion here, I've provided the information made available to me.
The map above was sent to me by the organizers, considering I am not on site nor have I ever been there I have no way of knowing the accuracy to the exact mile. The event is taking place at Bear Valley Ski Resort and that is the address I provided.
I'm sorry for your disappointment and I hope the rest of the event experience is up to your standard.
Yes I Have the same problem as Paul - map shows something different than Bear Valley Ski ResorT (shown as Skyline Bear Valley Mountain Resort, 2280 state Rte 207, Bear Valley, CA 95223)
the map shows the location of Bear Valley Lodge.
@Chris Kreidel from my emails with Doug, I believe the map (with illustrations) has the correct info/locations.
WNLRR Admin should stop using Ski Resort as it just confuses everyone.
Google translates 2280 state Rte 207, Bear Valley, CA 95223 to Logdepole group campsite, this doesn't match with the attached image. I think I'm just going to navigate to the gas station in Bear Valley and then figure it out from there.
Agreed - the ski resort was confusing, I think we should email everyone with this image so folks don't get lost, especially those coming late at night like myself.
I think everyone should just get to the pictured area and follow the WNLRR signs.
I am going to these coordinates: (38.4639743,-120.0412462). That is Bear Valley Snowmobiles on Google Maps (132 Bear Valley Rd, Bear Valley, CA 95223, USA), which is next to the staging area.
I expect WNLRR signs all over the place. I noticed that there’s quite some Discos, Defenders and Series II that signed up. I might just follow the oil stains on the road :-)
